Our Mackie speakers are so accurate that they are considered monitors. Two of these speakers are powerful enough to fill a large ballroom with a big sound by themselves. Next, we added a Mackie subwoofer to the system for a full, clear sound that is impressive even to audiophiles. An audiophile might stop there, but we didn’t. We own six Mackie active speakers and two Mackie active subwoofers for a tremendously powerful, crystal clear sound.
Another factor that significantly affects sound quality is speaker placement. After becoming a serious audiophile as a teenager, my interest has grown to include years of college study in science, physics, and engineering. I understand sound and how to place speakers properly for optimum sound reproduction.
The Dance Fanatics Pro Audio System also features a pair of Mackie Studio Monitors. These incredibly accurate speakers are normally used in professional recording studios for mastering CDs and movie soundtracks. We use them in the DJ booth to monitor event sound. With the sound in the DJ booth being an accurate representation of what is heard by the audience, it easy for each DJ to keep the sound just right for the entire event.
To keep things easy, both of our systems also features a Pioneer professional dual CD player with pitch control. These top of the line units are so easy to use that other DJ’s get up to speed with them fast. These units have a built in volume control allowing easy monitoring of the next song with our top of the line Sony DJ headphones.
The system also includes two Shure wireless headset microphones for lessons featuring two instructors. We also have a Shure handheld wireless microphone for the MC. This handheld microphone is on a third VHF frequency so that all 3 wireless microphones can all be used simultaneously. And finally, we have a wired microphone for the DJ Both. Our Mackie mixers have plenty of inputs allowing all 4 of these microphones to work well simultaneously.

When people use microphones who are unfamiliar with microphone technique, they don’t normally sound as you would expect. For example, when Joe Smoe is on the microphone, some of what he says is so quiet that he cannot be understood by the audience, some is just about right, and some is way too loud. That’s way we added a dbx professional compressor / limiter to the Dance Fanatics Pro Audio System. This device allows the audience to easily hear what is being said by any untrained microphone user.

More cool stuff, a second smaller pro audio system for smaller rooms.

There is one thing we can’t do with our sound system — we can’t find anything to upgrade.
